This photograph was taken from the deck of the Aleksey Maryshev as we sailed toward Fair Island, 24 miles SW of Sumburgh Head in the Shetland Islands. Conditions were so bad that we were unable to make a landing on Fair Island. It was windy and foggy with high waves. Temperatures were in the 50's.
