This photograph was of Marsh Marigolds was taken as we hiked around the Island of Foula which is located 24 miles west of West Burra on the mainland Shetland Island. This island currently has thirty-two people living on it. It's a hardy group of people who live here. Supplies are either flown or shipped to the island. Children receive their education on the mainland in boarding schools. We took a walking tour of the island, saw harbor and gray seals, many birds, sheep, Shetland Ponies, and were treated to a peat harvesting demonstration. Temperatures were in the mid-50's on this partly cloudy to rainy afternoon. This stop was a substitution for Fair Isle. We were not able to land the Zodiacs on Fair Isle because of bad weather conditions.
