Landing activities near Russebukta (southwestern side of Edgeøya) were canceled because of fog and a Polar Bear sighting in the area. We sailed northeastward to one of the fjord arms in Freemansundet, a wide bay between the islands of Edgeøya and Barentsøya, to an area known as Isbjornodden. Here we made our second Zodiac landing and were able to get a photograph of this Arctic Skua (Parasitic Jaeger) in flight. This bird's dark cap does not solidly surround the gape. Temperatures were in the 40's on this partly cloudy afternoon.
