We photographed this adult Ivory Gull with its black legs and diagnostic yellow-tipped bill with its dark base hovering around and landing on an ice floe near the face of the Monacobreen Glacier. Thanks to Magnus, a National Geographic Explorer guide and Zodiac driver, Brad and I were able to take second Zodiac cruise to see and photograph this special bird of the high Arctic. And, thanks to Magnus, we caught up with our ship as it sailed away from the area (the Captain wasn't waiting for anyone). Temperatures were in the 40's with partly cloudy skies.
