We were on the upper decks of the ship cruising in the Liefdefjorden area near Albert I Land on the northwest side of Spitsbergen when Brad photographed this Kittiwake as it flew overhead. The face of the Monacobreen Glacier can be seen in the background. Temperatures were in the 40's with sunny skies. Monacobreen was named in honor of Duke Albert I of Monaco whose expeditions mapped the glacier in 1906-1907.
