This is a photograph of part of the residential area in Longyearbyen. The homes here were painted bright, vivid colors. In Oslo and in the areas around Bergen that we previously visited, red seemed to be the preferred color for homes and buildings. In Longyearbyen all colors of the rainbow were used. Rows of these buildings are displayed on postcards sold at tourists areas. Temperatures were in the 40's with partly cloudy skies.
