We photographed these Purple Sandpipers with wings raised near Svalbard's art museum. Our only other experience with this species was at the Quintana Jetty near Surfside in Texas where we saw one lone bird walking on the surf-washed rocks. It was nice to get close-up views and see more than one of this species. Temperatures were in the 40's with partly cloudy skies.
