We photographed this Western Bluebird sitting on a stump near the side of the road as we were driving along the Plumtaw-Piedra Loop, a 35 mile round trip. The Plumtaw Road is a Forest Service access road that begins in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, as Four Mile Road at the corner of Lewis and Pagosa Streets. It is substantially higher in elevation than most other back roads in the county and affords both scenic views and good looks at many avian species. It was a cloudy to rainy morning with temperatures in the low 60's.
