This photograph of California Condor number 4 taking off from a rock ledge was taken near the Bright Angel Trailhead in the Grand Canyon in Arizona. This California Condor was sunning itself and remained in place for approximately ten minutes. Once the Condor flew, we lost sight of it as it flew to the other side of the canyon. It was a sunny, calm afternoon with temperatures in the low to mid-50's.
