Our goal the morning of Friday, January 20, 2012, was to set foot on terra firma for some birding on solid ground. I photographed the sunrise as we landed at the village of El Tucan. Located about fifteen minutes above the town of Nauta on the Rio Maraņon, this area provided us access to a private birdng reserve. Temperatures were in the mid-70's with overcast skies and high humidity.
