We birded along the Ucayali River and Supay Creek (located near the city of Requena), the morning of Tuesday, January 17, 2012. I photographed some Mistletoe (Viscum sp.) as we passed a river-edge forest. Mistletoe is a parasite and relies on a host tree to provide nutrients and a growing platform. The plant's evergreen leaves are elliptical in shape with the widest part at the end of the leaf. Temperatures were in the low 70's with overcast skies and high humidity.
