We birded down river from the city of Requena along Supay Creek the morning of Tuesday, January 17, 2012. An Orange-winged Parrot, Amazona amazonica, was perched in some river-edge foliage. The smallest Amazona in Peru, its wing speculum is orange. It has yellow or orangish-yellow coloration on the crown and on the sides of the face with a blue band across the forecrown and over the eyes. Temperatures were in the upper 70's with overcast skies and high humidity.
