We spent the morning of Monday, January 16, 2012, birding along Yarapa Creek, a tributary of the Amazon (South Bank). Brad photographed a White-winged Becard (Pachyramphus polychopterus) that was perched in a river-edge forest. Resident males have all-black plumage, two white wing bars, and distinctive white patterning on the undertail tip. Becards are flycatcher-like birds with large heads, and broad bills. They are sexually dimorphic in plumage. Temperatures were in the mid-80's on this humid morning with hazy skies and high humidity.
